Spray Dryer For Milk And Coffee

Spray dryer is an industrial equipment used to quickly dry liquid materials into powder or granular solids. The equipment achieves the drying process by atomizing the liquid material into small droplets and then quickly evaporating the water in the droplets through a hot air flow. Spray dryer is widely used in chemical, food, pharmaceutical and other industries and is an efficient drying technology.

Working principle of spray dryer

The working principle of spray dryer mainly includes the following steps:

  1. Material preparation: pre-treat the liquid material to be dried to ensure that it is suitable for atomization.
  2. Atomization: atomize the liquid material into tiny droplets through a nozzle or a centrifugal disk. Atomization is a key step in the whole process, and the quality of atomization directly affects the drying efficiency and product quality.
  3. Drying: The atomized droplets are sent into the drying chamber, the hot air flow is fully in contact with the droplets, and the water in the droplets evaporates rapidly to form solid particles or powder.
  4. Separation: The dried product is separated from the exhaust gas, usually through equipment such as a cyclone separator or a bag filter, and finally the dried finished product is obtained.

Main components of spray dryer

  • Feeding system: used to transport liquid materials to the atomization device. Common feeding methods include screw pumps, diaphragm pumps, etc.
  • Atomization system: core component, responsible for atomizing liquid materials into small droplets. Common atomization methods include pressure nozzles, airflow nozzles and centrifugal discs.
  • Drying chamber: used for full contact and drying of hot air flow and atomized droplets. It is usually a cylindrical or conical structure to ensure uniform distribution and flow of materials in the drying chamber.
  • Heat source system: provides the heat required for drying. Common heat sources include electric heating, steam heating and gas heating.
  • Separation system: used to separate the dried product from the exhaust gas. Common separation equipment includes cyclone separators, bag dust collectors and electrostatic dust collectors.
  • Control system: used to monitor and adjust various parameters in the spray drying process, such as temperature, pressure, flow, etc., to ensure the stability of the drying process and the stability of product quality.
