For some customers, the next equipment purchase begins long before a new inquiry is sent.In 2025, a customer from New Zealand purchased a 10L Spray Dryer from OLLITAL for drying Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and developing their spray drying process. At that stage, the 10L system provided a practical solution for their process development and production needs.
After using the equipment and gaining more experience with the process, the customer returned to OLLITAL in 2026 with a new requirement:They needed to increase their production capacity.
The new project was not simply about choosing a bigger machine.Having already worked with the 10L system, the customer had practical experience with drying Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and a clearer understanding of their process requirements. As their production needs increased, they began looking for a larger system that could support the next stage of their operation.The discussion therefore moved from a 10L Spray Dryer to a 25L Spray Dryer, with particular attention to the heating method, production capacity, installation conditions, and overall equipment configuration.
At OLLITAL, our engineering team reviewed the new requirements based on the customer's previous equipment, the characteristics of their BSA drying process, and their current production plans. This helped make the technical discussion more specific and practical.
For the new 25L system, the customer chose natural gas heating.
As the equipment moves toward a larger production scale, the heating system becomes an important part of the overall configuration. The natural gas burner provides the heat required for the drying air and is designed to support continuous operation of the larger spray drying system.For a material such as BSA, selecting the appropriate drying conditions is also an important part of the process. The heating system needs to work together with temperature control, feed conditions, and the overall spray drying configuration.Rather than simply recommending a standard configuration, OLLITAL discussed the heating requirements together with the customer's expected production conditions.This was an important part of the transition from their previous 10L equipment to the new 25L system.
During the consultation, the customer discussed a number of practical questions with the OLLITAL team, including equipment capacity, natural gas heating, installation space, operating requirements, and production conditions for their BSA drying process.Because the customer had already purchased and used an OLLITAL spray dryer, the communication was also based on their actual experience with the previous equipment.After several rounds of technical communication and confirmation, the customer decided to move forward with the 25L natural gas-heated Spray Dryer.
For OLLITAL, the project was not simply about supplying a larger machine. It was about understanding what had changed since the customer's first purchase and adjusting the equipment solution accordingly.
The move from 10L to 25L represents more than an increase in equipment size.The 10L system was part of the customer's earlier stage of Bovine Serum Albumin spray drying and process development. After gaining experience with the process and developing greater production requirements, they were ready to consider a larger system.This is one of the common development paths in spray drying:

For equipment manufacturers, understanding this progression is important. A customer who has already operated a spray dryer usually has very different questions when they return for their second machine.Instead of asking whetherspray drying is suitable, the conversation may focus on capacity, heating, temperature control, continuous operation, production space, and how the new system will fit into an existing workflow.
The first order in 2025 started the cooperation between the New Zealand customer and OLLITAL.One year later, the customer came back with a larger production requirement and ultimately ordered a 25L natural gas Spray Dryer for their continued BSA drying work.For OLLITAL, long-term customer relationships are built through more than the initial equipment sale. From 10L in 2025 to 25L in 2026, this New Zealand customer is now moving into the next stage of their spray drying operation, with Bovine Serum Albumin remaining an important part of their application and OLLITAL continuing to support them along the way.
