Laboratory Single-Screw Extruder: Precise Plasticizing for High-Temperature Engineering Plastics and Small-Batch Trial Production

Laboratory Single-Screw Extruder: Precise Plasticizing for High-Temperature Engineering Plastics and Small-Batch Trial Production

15 Sep, 2026

In new material R&D and laboratory trial production, stable and controllable plasticizing extrusion is key to obtaining reliable samples. The single-screw extruder has a screw diameter of 25 mm and is positioned as laboratory-grade precision extrusion equipment. It is widely suitable for 3D printing filament trials, small profile trial production, sample extrusion, and small-batch pelletizing. It is compatible with PLA, PETG, ABS, PC, PA, and high-temperature engineering plastics such as PEEK, providing a flexible extrusion solution for researchers and small-batch producers.

Stable Plasticizing: Three Stages from Pellets to Melt

The core advantage lies in its stable and controllable plasticizing capability. Inside the screw, materials complete three stages in sequence: feeding and conveying, compression and melting, and metering and homogenization. Solid pellets are conveyed and preheated by the screw, then fully melted under the combined action of shear and zoned heating. After passing through the homogenization section, a polymer melt with highly consistent temperature, pressure, and viscosity is obtained, and finally extruded through a custom die head. The complete machine consists of a drive system, hopper, screw-barrel extrusion system, heating and cooling system, die head, and electrical control system, enabling continuous and stable conversion from solid pellets to uniform melt.

High-Temperature Compatibility: Up to 450°C, Suitable for PEEK and Other Engineering Plastics

The machine uses a 38CrMoAl nitrided alloy steel screw and barrel, combined with a multi-zone independent temperature control system. The maximum processing temperature can reach 450°C, meeting the processing requirements of high-temperature engineering plastics such as PEEK. The drive adopts a variable-frequency/servo motor with a reduction gearbox. Screw speed is adjustable for precise control of extrusion output. The hopper supports an optional stirring anti-bridging component, accommodating various material forms such as pellets, powder, and regrind.

Flexible and Efficient: Modular Die Head for Rapid Sample Specification Changes

The modular die head supports quick mold changes, making it convenient for researchers to rapidly switch sample specifications and improve formulation iteration efficiency. Whether in university materials laboratories, new material R&D centers, or multi-variety small-batch flexible production scenarios, our single screw extruder delivers stable and reliable extrusion performance.

Supporting Equipment Note

The plastic extruder is a main unit that only performs plasticizing and extrusion. To produce finished filament or pellet products, downstream auxiliary equipment such as haul-off, cooling, winding, and pelletizing units is required. We can provide complete supporting solution recommendations based on your process requirements.
